Sacred Heart Girls Dominant in Sub-State Win Over Lincoln

The Sacred Heart Lady Knights hosted Lincoln on Monday night in the opening round of the Alma-Wabaunsee 2A Substate and never trailed in the game, collecting a 65-12 win.

The Lady Knights scored the first 13 points while holding the Lady Leopards scoreless through the opening eight minutes. Lincoln continued to struggle from the field and found themselves looking up at a 30-0 deficit at halftime.

Sacred Heart added three additional points to its lead before Lincoln finally got on the scoreboard at the 6:41 mark of the third quarter. The Lady Knights led 53-6 heading into the fourth quarter and, with a continuously running clock for the final eight minutes of the game, went on for a 65-12 win.

All 12 Lady Knights on their postseason roster played in the game with nine of them scoring. Katie Weiss led Sacred Heart with 20 points. Skylar Douglas added 14 and Avery Eshleman scored 10 more for the home team.

Sacred Heart advances to the semifinals in the Wabaunsee-hosted 2A substate. The 2nd-seeded Lady Knights will face the 3rd-seeded Alma-Wabaunsee Lady Chargers.

Tipoff is scheduled for 7:30 on Thursday night from Alma.
