⚾️ Wichita Downed by Arkansas 11-1

The Arkansas Travelers (24-32) defeated the Wichita Wind Surge (26-30) 11-1 on Saturday night at Equity Bank Park. Wichita scored first on an Andrew Cossetti home run, but Arkansas rattled off 11 unanswered runs to run away with the victory. 

The Surge got a solid start from Cory Lewis who turned in 4.1 innings of two-run ball, but Arkansas pulled away throughout the later innings against the Wichita bullpen, scoring in five of the final six frames on their way to the win 

The Rundown:

Wichita got the scoring started with a solo home run from Andrew Cossetti on the first pitch of the bottom of the second inning off Arkansas starter Ryan Sloan.

Arkansas tied the game in the top of the fourth on a two-out solo homer from Charlie Pagliarini, his 22nd of the season off Cory Lewis

The Travelers went in front in the fifth courtesy of a two-out, two-run home run from Josh Hood off Wind Surge reliever Hunter Gregory.

Arkansas added another two-out run in the sixth on a RBI single from Josh Caron to make it a 4-1 ballgame.

The visitors continued the barrage in the seventh, breaking the game open with a five run frame, highlighted by a RBI double from Caron.

NOTES:

  1. Andrew Cossetti hit his 17th home run of the season, extending his professional high.
  2. Cossetti’s homer was Wichita’s 171st of the year, tying the franchise record for homers in a season.
  3. Cory Lewis delivered an effective start for Wichita, working 4.1 innings of two run ball with five strikeouts. It was Lewis’ longest outing of the season.
  4. Khadim Diaw had two hits including a double,  his 17th multi-hit game this season.
  5. Garrett Spain picked up his 25th multi-hit performance this season.
  6. Kyle DeBarge notched his 24th mutli-hit game in 2026.
  7. Kyle Bischoff delivered his 28th scoreless relief appearance of the season.
  8. Luis Hernandez pitched the ninth inning for Wichita, the fifth time a position player has pitched this season. 
  9. Arkansas has won four of the first five games in the series.
  10. Andrew Cossetti received the Harmon Killebrew Award for Community Service before the game.
