A Salina man who called police to report that he had struck an unknown car on his way home from a bar early Tuesday morning was arrested on multiple requested charges after the struck car was found.

Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Willis Avenue at approximately 1:40 a.m. Tuesday to talk with Christopher Hays, 22, of Salina, who reported that he had hit a parked car along his way home from a bar, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. Hays was unable to remember where he hit the car, however, damage to Hays' Toyota passenger car was consistent with what he was reporting.

At approximately 9:15 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the intersection of W. Ash Street and N. Phillips Avenue, where a Salina woman reported that her 2014 Kia Optima had been struck. Evidence at the scene matched Hays' Toyota, Forrester said.

Hays was arrested on the following requested charges, Forrester said.

●Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs

●Duty upon striking an unattended vehicle

●No motor vehicle liability insurance

●Inattentive driving
