August 7, 1925 - January 17, 2022

Dean L. Hardaway, age 96, of Jamestown, KS passed away on Monday, January 17, 2022 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia.  He was born on Aug. 7, 1925 in Fowler, KS to Walker “Pete” and Fannie (Marrs) Hardaway.

Dean served in the U.S. Army during WWII. 

He married Joyce M. Nelson on Dec. 25, 1946 in Belleville, KS.  She preceded him on Jan. 23, 2019 after celebrating 74 years of marriage. 

He farmed in the Jamestown area and later was a propane delivery man for Boyd Oil.  After his retirement from Boyd’s, he worked for OCCK as a maintenance man/bus driver.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #76 and VFW Post #588.  Dean loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing and hunting, especially with his friends and family.

He is survived by his son Roger Hardaway (Tina), Concordia; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce; a son, Bryan; brother, Warren and Loren and sisters, Maudessa, Euvonne, Ruth, Velma, Florence and Juanita.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Friday, January 21, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia with Dwight Garman officiating.  Burial will follow at Saron Baptist Cemetery, Jamestown.  Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  The family will greet friends for an hour prior to the services on Friday. 

The family suggests memorials to American Legion Baseball or the family’s choice in care of the funeral home.
