Police are investigating an incident in which multiple shots were fired at two teens in southwest Salina Saturday night.

An 18-year-old man and a 17-year-old girl arrived at their residence in the 800 block of Smith Avenue just after 9 p.m. Saturday. After being inside the residence for approximately five minutes, they went back outside to get items from their vehicle. At that point, five to six shots were fired toward them, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning.

The girl's 2008 Volkswagen Rabbit had a bullet hole just below the tail light on the driver's side. There also was some other damage to the car. Total damage to the car was estimated at $500, Forrester said.

Additionally, a bullet hole was found in the siding of the residence. Damage to the siding was estimated at $100, Forrester said.

The teens told police they believed the shots were fired from the other side of a vacant lot near where they live.
