Steven J. Thomas, age 53, of Hays, Kansas, died Friday, May 27, 2022, in Barstow, California.  

He was born November 9, 1968, in Hays, Kansas, to John Harland and Patricia Ann  (Leikam) Thomas.  He married Carrie Christine (Silva) on February 14, 2009 at Las Vegas, Nevada. 

He was a truck driver for over 30 years working for L-K Wireline and Acid in Hays, UPS Freight of Salina, and recently a driver for The Fleener Brothers Trucking of Carthage, Missouri.  He grew up in Hays and was a 1988 graduate of Hays High School.  He had a love for fast cars, loud music, fishing with his grandchildren, target shooting with his children, and time with his family.  He was a great friend, a loving husband, an amazing father, and a proud Papa, wonderful brother, and a funny uncle.  

Survivors include his wife, Carrie Silva-Thomas, Hays, KS; his children, Brandon Silva and fiancé Alessia Radeker, Hays, KS; Jordan Silva and wife, Tressidy, Hays, KS; Rhiannon Silva, Hays, KS; Nicholas Silva, Hays, KS; Elizabeth Silva-Thomas, Plainville. KS; Lauryn Silva-Thomas, Hays, KS; Ayva Silva-Thomas, Hays, KS; Ashley Thomas, Topeka, KS; five grandchildren; Matix Silva; Maverick Silva; Penny Dobson; Lily Dobson; Olivia Dobson; his brother, Sean Thomas and wife, Darcie, Wichita, KS; his mother-in-law, Christi Hoffman, CA; and his nieces, Jennifer Swenson; Haley Thomas; Mackenzie Thomas; Tyler Farnsworth; Katie Farnsworth.

He was preceded his mother; and his sister-in-law, Amy Farnsworth.

A Celebration of Life Service will be at 11:00 A.M. Monday June 20, 2022, at Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays, 1919 East 22nd Street, Hays, Kansas 67601 with Rev. Troy Miller.  A private family inurnment will be held at a later date.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Sunday, and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. Monday, at the mortuary. 

The family suggests memorials made payable to: The Children’s Miracle Network or for the Thomas family made payable to: Cline’s-Keithley Mortuary of Hays in care of the mortuary.
