Last week, the Southeast of Saline Trojans scored over 70 points for the first time in over 20 years.

This week, they did it again for good measure, bulldozing the Russell Broncos 71-0 to advance to 4-0 on the season.

A majority of that damage was done in the first half as SES took a 50-0 lead into the locker room, pulling their starters and giving the youth a chance to shine on a big stage once again.

“I think we’re playing well,” Trojan head coach Mitch Gebhardt said. “As a coach, you’re always looking at things you can improve but the younger kids really start to buy in more when they get a chance to come out and compete in a varsity game and it was good to get them involved again tonight.”

It was another dominant showing for quarterback Luke Gebhardt, who put up 237 yards and three touchdowns on a staggering 17-18 passing performance, adding a fourth TD on the ground.

Chase Poague had another monster game as well, recording six receptions for 147 yards and two touchdowns through the air to go along with a 37-yard touchdown run.

For a fourth consecutive week, the Trojan defense looked like one of the best units in the state, completely muting the Broncos, who mustered just six yards of total offense.

“Our defense is playing well, we’ve got a lot of bodies moving to the ball and when people are flying around like that good things will happen.”

Through these first four games, SES has outscored their opponents 229-12 and will look to carry that momentum throughout district play.

Southeast’s next test will be in 2-2 Colby, who defeated Smoky Valley 39-14 this week.
