Six Coyote baseball players on All-KCAC teams

Kansas Wesleyan Baseball had six student-athletes selected to the 2022 Kansas Conference Baseball All-Conference teams as selected by a vote of the conference coaches and announced by the conference office.

Dustin Sipe (JR/Aztec, N.M.) was KWU's lone first-team selection at third base. Haydn Brown (SR/Gardnerville, Nev.) and Kevin Esquilin Cruz (JR/Trujilo Alto, Puerto Rico) were named to the second-team at utility and outfield, respectively. William Dryburgh (SR/St. Joseph, Mo.), Branden Voytko (JR/El Paso, Texas) and Spencer Foley (JR/Lancaster, Calif.) were named honorable-mention at second base, starting pitcher and relief pitcher, respectively.

Sipe hit .310 for the Coyotes in conference play. He hit nine home runs in conference play which ranks 12th in the KCAC. He had 36 hits overall that included 12 doubles that ranked fifth in the conference in conference play. He was also hit by a pitch a league-best 11 times during conference play. His .647 slugging average ranked 16th in the conference.  

Brown hit .362 for the Coyotes in conference play and hit a team best and third best in the conference 14 homeruns over the same span. He drove in 37 runs which ranked ninth in the conference. His 42 total hits in conference play ranked 16th. His .793 slugging average ranked fifth in the conference. Brown played multiple positions for the Coyotes this season including all three outfield spots and at first base.

Esquilin Cruz hit .302 for the Coyotes during the conference season. He drove in 24 runs on 32 total hits which included eight doibles, a triple and four homeruns during conference play. He had a .509 slugging average and a .390 on base percentage. His 11 stolen bases rank 14th in the KCAC.

Dryburgh hit .385 for the Coyotes this season during conference play, ranking 10th in the conference. He had 35 hits during conference play and scored 36 runs which ranked 11th in the KCAC. He had five doubles, a triple and two homers. His 16 stolen bases during conference play ranked fifth best in the conference. His on base percentage of .452 ranked 17th.

In nine starts for the Coyotes in conference play, Voytko posted a 5-1 record with a 5.08 ERA. He pitched 44 and a third innings for the Coyotes in conference play and struck out 59 which ranked 10th in the conference. His 11.98 strikeouts per nine innings average ranked sixth best in the conference.

Foley made nine appearances for the Coyotes during conference play, going 2-1, and had one save. He struck out 25 against seven walks and only allowed 15 runs in 29 and a third innings pitched. He had a 3.07 ERA in conference play.

Kansas Wesleyan is 29-26 overall and 17-16 in the KCAC heading into the KCAC Tournament. KWU faces No. 3 seed Tabor on Friday at 3:30 p.m. in Great Bend in the KCAC Championships. The tournament was scheduled to begin Wednesday, but has been twice delayed due to forecast inclement weather.
