James “Jim” Lytle, 90, of Salina, owner of Lytle Electric, Inc., passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, January 25th, 2025.Jim was born in Saxton, Pennsylvania on September 9, 1934, the youngest of five children and only son of Elsie (Dick) and Ernest Lytle.
Jim served in the United States Air Force from January 9, 1952 to December 20, 1955 as a Refueling Boom Operator being stationed at Lincoln Air Force Base, Lincoln, Nebraska and Schilling Air Force Base, Salina, Kansas.
That’s how he met and later married Marilyn JoAnn Johnson on February 7, 1954 in Salina, Kansas.His greatest passion and ‘hobby’ was his occupation, Master Electrician/Electrical Contractor, and owner of his own business. He learned the electrical trade from his father-in-law and after working for Webb Johnson Electric, Inc. for many years, started Lytle Electric, Inc. in 1973. He was well known and respected in Salina and North Central Kansas, known to be a hard worker, a knowledgeable and excellent electrician, and a man with integrity
.Survivors include his wife, Marilyn JoAnn; three daughters, Kim Ross, of Topeka, Kansas: Debbie Clark (Duncan), of Salina, Kansas; Susan Hancock, of Mulvane, Kansas; and son, David Lytle, of Salina, Kansas.He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and 3 great great grandchildren.Also surviving are 2 sisters, Grace Stevens, of Snow Hill, Maryland and Laverne Laubach, of Kingsville, Maryland.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters, a son, James Lytle, 1 grandchild, and 1 great grandchild.The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 30th, 2025 at Carlson – Geisendorf Funeral Home, 500 S. Ohio, Salina, Kansas 67401.
The funeral will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, January 31st, 2025 at Emmanuel Church, 1325 E.
