Doris (Soderstrom) Carlson, 92, affectionately known as Sody, the general or the queen, passed away May 23, 2024 at Bethany Home in Lindsborg, Ks. She was born on November 5th, 1931 to LaVern (Sody) and Amanda (Siemsen) Soderstrom in Lindsborg. She attended

schools in Lindsborg including Bethany College, where she received her degree in Elementary Education. On June 5, 1954, she married William (Bill) Carlson. They both taught school in Salina and were charter members of Redeemer Lutheran Church. In 1974 Bill accepted the job as administrator of Bethany Home and they "went home". Doris was a long time, active member of Messiah Lutheran Church, an ardent supporter of Bethany College and volunteer for many other organizations. Their lives revolved around their true life's calling, Bethany Home, until each met their Lord after becoming residence themselves. Doris will be remembered for many things, among those her sometimes sharp wit that could blow your hair back if one was not properly prepared.

Survivors include daughter: Sara Shogren (Brad); sons Brad (Helen) and Andy (Kelly); grandchildren; Katie Greenwood (Seth), Tracy (Cathy), Dalen Carlson, Breton Johnson (Micah), Kessley Rhodenizer (Zach), Curtis Carlson, and Macie Carlson; eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by: her parents and sister Irma Claire.

A memorial service will be at Bethany Home in Lindsborg on Sunday, June 9 at 2:00. Cremation was chosen. There will be a private family burial and no visitation.
