Ralph "Pops" W. Anderson

Ralph W. “Pops” Anderson, Jr., 79, of Ottawa, KS died Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at AdventHealth Hospital in Ottawa, Kansas.He was born July 6, 1944 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Ralph W. Anderson, Sr. and Mary (Bauer) Anderson. He grew up in De Soto, Kansas and graduated from De Soto High School with the class of 1962.
On June 1, 1970, Pops was united in marriage to Margaret Doreen Beatty. They enjoyed 48 years of loving marriage together until her passing on June 3, 2018.
After high school, Pops served his country in the United States Army. He then managed a gas station in Topeka before owning a gas station in Lyndon. Pops was the owner and editor of the Franklin County Chronicle in Ottawa. He then went on to own the Radio Shack in town before finally owning Trails End Steakhouse and the Cheyenne Country Bar and Grill.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Mary Anderson; his wife, Margaret Anderson; a son, Tony Anderson; and a sister, Margaret Ann Wilson.
He is survived by a daughter, Penny S. Miles and her husband, Johnny, of Ottawa, KS; a son, Corey L. Anderson and his wife, Bobby, of Gardner, KS; two sisters, Lola Villwock of Brainerd, MN and Charlene Cardwell of Ottawa, KS; 9 grandchildren, Brandon Herlien, Blake Anderson and his wife Sam, Jacob Anderson, Devin Anderson and his wife, Rachel, Abigail Anderson, Kaitlyn Anderson, Ashley Miles, Andrew Miles, and Tyler Miles; and one great-granddaughter, Everleigh Anderson.
Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, June 22nd, at Eagles Hall, 524 E 15th Street, Ottawa KS 12:00 p.m.to 3:00 pm. A small committal service will follow at Peoria Cemetery, Peoria, KS.
