WICHITA – Mia Hernandez (SO/Hanford, Calif.) of Kansas Wesleyan University has earned the KCAC Softball Player of the Week honor, the conference office announced Monday. Hernandez was selected for her performances from April 17-23 by a vote of conference sports information directors. All KCAC Player of the Week honors are presented by Equity Bank.

Hernandez had a strong week to wrap up the regular season for the Coyotes. She hit .571 for the week with a 1.071 slugging average and a .625 on-base percentage. Hernandez went 8 for 14 at the plate with a double and hit a pair of homers on the week.

She hit homeruns in the games against Saint Mary, adding a round-tripper in each contest as the Coyotes split with the Spires. She drove in three runs during the week.

KWU completed its regular season on Saturday against Friends, and finished with an 18-23 overall record and a 13-11 mark in the Kansas Conference.

The Coyotes are locked in as the No. 6 seed in the KCAC Tournament that begins on May 3 at the Great Bend Sports Complex in Great Bend.

KWU's first round opponent is yet to be determined, based on the completion of games this weekend.
