Eleanora Mary (Bieker) Douglass

Eleanora “Ellie” M. Douglass, 85, of Ellsworth, KS, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2024. She was born in Hoxie, KS on January 29, 1938 to Ludwig “Louis” C. Bieker and Ludwina (Munsch) Bieker. She married William “Bill” R. Douglass in Hoxie on November 7, 1955. They were blessed with four children, Diana Douglass of Independence, MO, Tina Heinze (Robert, deceased) of Lincoln, KS, Terry Douglass (Melinda) of Siloam Springs, AR, and Curt Douglass (Jeanne) of Newton, KS.
Ellie worked with Bill at their businesses in Lincoln and Tescott, KS. She also taught CCD classes for many years in Lincoln and made many quilts for family and friends. She was always on the go!
Ellie is survived by her children; and siblings, Eugene (Pauletta) of Oberlin, KS, Alex Bieker (Willetta) of McCook, NE, Elizabeth Stillman (Albert, deceased), and Mary K. Sanders (William, deceased) of Hoxie; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Bill, five brothers, and three sisters.
Memorial mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 3, 2024 at St. Bernard’s Catholic Church of Ellsworth. A rosary recitation will take place at 10:00 a.m., Saturday at the church prior to the service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at the Denison Cemetery in Denison, KS.
