Marion “Buddy” Hershel Neff, 74, passed away peacefully at home on December 13th, 2024, in Salina, KS, after a long and courageous battle with stage-4 lung cancer, with his loving wife, Yong Ae Neff, by his side. Born on August 17th, 1950, in Whittaker, West Virginia, to Hershel Berman Neff and Marie Kathleen Jenkins, Buddy leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and countless cherished memories.

After graduating from Frankfurt American High School in Frankfurt, Germany, Buddy was drafted into the Army, where he was stationed in Korea. He worked in the medical field, including roles in hospital care and optometry. While stationed in Korea, Buddy met Yong, the love of his life, and they married in 1980. He continued his service with dedication until retirement.

Following his military career, Buddy pursued several unique roles that showcased his spirit and work ethic. He began working at Tony’s pizza for 7 years. Inspired to create something of his own, Buddy later opened a small shop, a unique store where he sold a variety of unique items, connecting with people from all walks of life. In the later years of his working career, Buddy found joy delivering freshly baked pies, sharing smiles and delicious treats with the community.

Even when facing health challenges, including open-heart surgery, Buddy remained active and resilient. Seeking a fulfilling pastime, he initially explored golf but soon discovered his true passion—disc golf—through a friend’s recommendation. Disc golf became a beloved part of Buddy’s life. He played countless rounds, participated in tournaments, and created lasting memories with friends and family. His love for the sport inspired his children and grandchildren, whom he proudly taught to play, passing on his enthusiasm for the game.

Buddy will be fondly remembered for his kindness, sense of humor, and unwavering love for his family. Whether working hard, playing disc golf, or simply sharing stories, Buddy had a remarkable ability to bring joy to everyone he met.

His legacy lives on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
