Clay County under flash flood warning

CLAY COUNTY -- The National Weather Service (NWS) in Topeka has issued a flash flood warning for Clay County until 6:15 p.m. Thursday.

At 2:15 p.m. CDT, law enforcement reported heavy rain falling across the warned area. Up to two inches of rain have already fallen. Flash flooding is already occurring.

Law enforcement has reported that Frontier road between Clifton and U.S. Highway 24 is closed and roads in Morganville are flooded.

IMPACT: Flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage and low lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flooding include Clay Center, Clifton, Morganville, Green, Vining, Oak Hill, and Idana.

Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area.
