Jammin’ Randy Coming to Salina This Month

Jammin' Randy is coming to the Salina Public Library July 11.

Randy’s interactive show "Cool to be Kind”will have you moving, grooving, singing along, and learning about the power of kindness and empathy.

The event kicks off at 10:15 a.m. at the Salina Public Library.

Born and raised in Norton Kansas, Randy was involved with music all throughout his school years. His love of music eventually led him to attend Fort Hays State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. He later earned his Master’s Degree, with an emphasis in music composition and recording. 

Presently, Randy is a K-6 Music Teacher in Hays, KS where he teaches elementary music and sixth grade band. He was selected as the 2013 - 2014 Outstanding Elementary Music Teacher by the Northwest Kansas Music Educators Association.

Randy has been teaching since 1990. After many years as a band director for grades fifth through twelfth, Randy began teaching elementary music. “I started using my composition skills to write music for elementary classes, and found the kids loved my original music,” Randy said. “This is where the beginnings of the “Randy’s Music Jam” show started. 

Randy’s Music Jam has been performing since 2008, performing in Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma. Randy’s Music Jam has performed at the Kansas State Fair, The Country Stampede, Taste of Omaha Festival, Midwest Kids Fest, Kansas Sampler Festival, Emporia Public Library Brown Bag Concert, countless libraries in Kansas, Nebraska, and Oklahoma, as well as many town festivals and fairs.
