A Saline County woman reported that her husband shot her in the stomach with a shotgun Sunday evening, calling while lying in her front yard, where Saline County Sheriff's Office deputies found her.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said that at 7:24 p.m. on Sunday, May 26, 43-year-old Janet Willson reported that her husband, 60-year-old Timothy Lecklider, shot her in the stomach.

"Deputies that arrived out there on the scene found Janet in the yard, and she was able to come down the driveway to them," Soldan said. "She was transported to Salina Regional, then she had some surgery here and then she was sent to Wichita. As far as I know, she's still in critical condition."

Soldan said the gun Lecklider used was a 0.410 shotgun but did not detail if he shot Willson at point-blank range. Although Willson called Lecklider her husband, Soldan said the pair are not legally married.

Deputies arrested Lecklider without incident and requested charges for attempted murder.
