San Antonio Missions down Wind Surge 11-2

WICHITA ā€“ The San Antonio Missions ripped 19 hits and defeated the Wichita Wind Surge 11-2 to even the series at two.  The win clinched the first half South division title for the Missions.    

The Missions powered through the top of the second with five-runs sending nine batters to the plate.  Korry Howell hammered a three run home run, his sixth of the season.

Legumina pitched five innings and allowed five runs, on eight hits and five strikeouts.

The Missions added four more runs in the seventh as Chandler Seagle nailed a two-run RBI double to right field to extend the lead to 10-1.

In the bottom of the eighth, Matt Wallner crushed his 16th home run of the season which traveled 387 feet.   Wallner is second in the league in home runs and third in RBI.

NOTES: The 19 hits allowed is the most allowed on the season and in franchise history.  The Wind Surge added pitcher Cody Lawyerson from Cedar Rapids.  The team also placed pitcher Alex Scherff on the injured list. 

Coming Up: The Wind Surge will resume play against the San Antonio Missions Saturday for a 6:05 p.m. first pitch and gates open at 6 p.m. Louie Varland will get the start on the mound for the Surge and Thomas Eshelman will take the hill for the Missions. Catch the game on MiLB.com and Windsurge.com.
