Active investigation: Stolen vehicle found abandoned and on fire in Saline County

Law enforcement are investigating a reported stolen vehicle found abandoned and on fire.

According to the Saline County Sheriff's Office on April 25 at 8:06 am, a passerby reported a vehicle in the 3900 block of W. Cloud Street was on fire. 

Deputies and Rural Fire District 6 arrived on scene and found a 2005 Toyota Camry valued at approximately $4,000, fully engulfed.

An investigation into the fire revealed the vehicle was stolen from Salina in the early morning hours that same day. 

The Salina Police Department (SPD) was contacted and is actively investigating the theft of the vehicle.

Throughout the investigation, SPD reported they made contact with a 28-year-old female, who is listed as the registered owner of the vehicle.

According to SPD, the owner stated the vehicle had been parked behind their residence near downtown Salina. The owner reported to missing a key for several months.

The owner would not provide any further information on the vehicle, according to SPD.
