Janice Goertz entered the gates of heaven on Sunday evening, November 28, 2021. She passed away peacefully according to her wishes with her husband, both children, all five of her grandchildren, and her brother at her side.
Her survivors include her husband, Glenn Goertz of Hillsboro, daughter, Dyan and Dave Thornton of Wichita, son, John and Kelly Goertz of Omaha, and five grandchildren, Drew Thornton, Kristin Goertz, Olivia Thornton, Lauren Goertz, and Jacob Goertz. She is also survived by her brother, Tom and Marlys Plett of Hillsboro, sister, Vera and Ken Condict of Nixa, Missouri, brother-in-law, Thornton Newlove of Bellvue, Washington, and Phoenix, Arizona, along with countless relatives and special friends.
Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Menno and Marie Plett, and her sister, Lois Newlove.
Janice’s family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Reeh, Hillsboro Community Hospital, Hillsboro Hometown Pharmacy, Kansas Heart Hospital, The Center at Waterfront, and Cancer Center of Kansas for their excellent care.
The Celebration of Life, with a light lunch following, will be held on Saturday, December 4 at 11:00 a.m. at the Shari Flaming Center for the Arts at Tabor College. As a courtesy to the family, we are requesting that masks are worn.
