In 1992, it was the first of a two day outbreak of 123 tornadoes. Of the total, 58 struck on the 15th and 65 on the 16th.

Four of the tornadoes were violent F4s. Among them were two that struck north-central and central Kansas.

An F4 that struck Beloit had a track only three miles long, while the F4 that struck McPherson had a track six miles long.

In all, the tornadoes caused $242 million damage. At the time, it was the third largest tornado outbreak on record spanning a two day period.
