HEAD COACH ANDY REID
OPENING STATEMENT: “Really, the only one that didn’t practice today was Josh (Simmons). Still excused with a family situation. The Raiders, we look forward to that challenge of playing the Raiders. They’ve got a good football team. You can see them getting better every week, and (Raiders Head Coach) Pete’s (Carroll) done a nice job with that. (A) veteran coach and veteran coordinators to go with it. We all know (Raiders Special Teams Coordinator) Tom (McMahon) who was a special teams coach here, he does a heck of a job, and (Raiders Offensive Coordinator) Chip (Kelly), who’s just had a great career there and (Raiders Defensive Coordinator) Patrick (Graham), likewise Patrick. He’s been there before, the last couple of years, so he does a great job. We know it will be a battle, but we look forward to getting with these guys and playing and competing in GEHA Field at Arrowhead (Stadium). Time’s yours.”
Q: What have you seen from Rashee Rice this week?
REID: “I mean, he (Rashee Rice) looks sharp. It’s not a game, but what we ask him to do, he did well. One thing he is – you can tell he’s in good shape. That’s always your worry when someone misses a few weeks because it’s different when you’re playing. He busted his tail (and) did a nice job there. Now it’s just a matter of getting in a game and getting reps there. We’ll see how all that goes.”
Q: Have you seen Rashee Rice’s excitement level go up now that he’s back in the building?
REID: “He (Rashee Rice) always has great energy. I’ve mentioned that before, but it was good to get him back. A positive guy that works hard. It’s good to have him here. I’m sure he’s excited to play. He hadn’t played in a real game for a year and six weeks or whatever it is.”
Q: Is Josh Simmons’ situation a family situation?
REID: “Well, personal.”
Q: Do you have an understanding on Josh Simmons’ timeline?
REID: “No.”
Q: On Rashee Rice’s playing time.
REID: “I’m just going to watch him (Rashee Rice) in the game and see how he does. He knows everything, it’s just I don’t know how many reps he’s going to get. I’m sure it won’t be every rep. I’d like to see how he does with what we give him.”
Q: On having an afternoon game versus prime-time game.
REID: “Yeah, I don’t mind it. It should be a great day. We don’t have many, but it’s exciting. Anytime you get a chance to play in this league it’s going to be exciting. Especially against the Raiders.”

WR RASHEE RICE
Q: On the bond of the wide receiver room.
RICE: “Honestly, it’s just a brotherhood. We kind of feel like everything we’re doing on the field is for each other because we do everything for each other off the field. It’s easy to relate.”
Q: Have you made an impact in the meeting rooms since returning?
RICE: “I wouldn’t know what it’s like to not be around the guys. Whatever they say, they say. I just enjoy being around those guys when I’m not at home. This is my second home. I love playing football. We all love playing football, so it’s just natural energy being spread around.”
Q: What has it been like emotionally? How have you gotten through that?
RICE: “Like I said, the best thing for me is to be around the guys. I got leaders in each room, even if it’s on defense to help me on and off the field. That’s the best part about being a part of a team like this, you got everybody to support you even the coaching staff and when I wasn’t here, still being able to talk to my teammates.”
CB TRENT MCDUFFIE
Q: What are the challenges that the Raiders present?
MCDUFFIE: “It’s Raider week, you know what I mean? No matter who is playing on that field, they play four quarters. I have a big deal of respect for them (Las Vegas Raiders) and how they’re coached and how they play this game. We’ve seen around the league, you can’t sleep on anybody. No matter what the record is, no matter who you’re playing, teams come ready to play. We’re in the NFL, so you can’t look over anybody and (you) gotta bring your ‘A’ game.”
Q: On starting out strong with a noon kickoff.
MCDUFFIE: “When it comes to (a) primetime game, you have all day. You kinda rest, have a few meals (and) could take a nap if you really wanted to. You have time to kinda prepare still if you’re kinda behind. Watch some more film. Getting noon games, we have to be at the stadium by ten o’clock (and) warming up by 11. It’s a little bit quicker, a little bit faster, so you kinda want to get your work done during the week. You don’t want to be there on Sunday morning trying to hustle around, waking up early trying to do things. Really just getting the game plan in and knowing what your job is by Saturday night, so you can go to sleep and wake up ready to go.”
Q: Did you find yourself watching a lot of Pete Carroll teams during your time at Washington?
