City of Salina
Salina has been awarded $300,000 through the Kansas Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program to support the city’s Neighborhood Repair and Rehabilitation Program (NRRP), which launched in early 2024.
The grant expands eligibility for the NRRP by allowing rental properties to apply for rehabilitation funding, whereas previous funding was limited to owner-occupied homes. The program focuses on a 10-block area bordered by State Street to the north, Ninth Street to the east, South Street to the south, and Broadway to the west. With this funding, the city expects to assist approximately 12 homes in making structural improvements.
Applications for the CDBG funding through NRRP are expected to open this spring. Residents who previously applied for Federal Home Loan Bank (FHLB) grants through NRRP may reapply if their property is within the designated area to determine eligibility for the new funding.
