
ELLSWORTH COUNTY— Kansas 156 south of Interstate 70 reopened just after 8p.m. Wednesday in Ellsworth County as area farmhands helped remove cattle from the overturned trailer, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
The trailer was loaded with 76 head of cattle. Thirteen cows died. Five of those thirteen had to be put down due to injury; sixty-three survived, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
There were no other injuries reported.
