Trail is set for the woman who was arrested after a fatal, head-on and hit-and-run crash.
Kayla Errebo (33) will be heading to trial for the requested charges of:
- Murder in the second degree.
- Failure to report an injury accident.
- Circumvention of ignition interlock device.
- Probation violation.
- Obstruction.
Saline County Judge, Amy Norton determined there is enough evidence to send the case to trial after a two-day preliminary hearing.
Errebo was arrested back on Friday, August 8 for a head-on collision into Mark Sommerfeld (61) and Deanna "June" Sommerfeld (55) on a rural Saline County road.
Mark Sommerfeld, recounted the events of August 8 and described the extent of his injuries, including a broken femur, surgery, and a 15-day hospital stay.
His wife Deanna, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Dennis Katzenmeier, Errebo’s grandfather, also testified during the hearing. Katzenmeier is being charged with obstructing apprehension in connection to the case.
Errebo plead guilty back on October 2024 for fleeing and eluding law enforcement, driving under the influence (DUI) and leaving the scene of an accident.
She is being held in the Saline County Jail on a $1 million bond.
Errebo is due back in court on May 4 at 1:30 pm for an arraignment.
