Salina’s Akadema 18U team has advanced to the Babe Ruth Midwest Plains Regional later this week.

The team will represent Kansas in the regional tournament in Charleston, Mo., Thursday through July 20.

According to Assistant Coach Eric Brown, eight teams qualified in the region that includes Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

The regional is set up in a pool play format. According to Brown, the Salina team will play the following teams.

The North Dakota state champion on Friday

The Missouri state champion on Saturday

The Iowa state champion on Sunday

The top two teams from the pool will then advance to the single-elimination semi-finals on Monday, Brown noted.
