ELLSWORTH COUNTY—Two people were injured in separate accidents due to slick roads Tuesday afternoon in Ellsworth County.
Just before 5:30p.m., a Stewart and Stevenson truck driven by Aspen Lee Watson, 23, Casper, Wyoming, was westbound on Interstate 70 just east of 21st Road.
The driver lost control on the slick roadway and struck an exit sign. EMS transported a passenger Kyle Raymond Caldwell, 31, Brooklyn Center, Minnesota, to the hospital in Salina. Watson and a second passenger were not injured and all three were properly restrained, according to the KHP.
Just before 4p.m. Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Dodge Dakota driven by Patricia Yvonne Schmid, 60, Hays, was westbound on Kansas 156 ten miles west of Kansas 14.
The driver lost control of the vehicle on the slick roadway. The pickup traveled off the right hand side of the roadway, rotated approximately 180 degrees, struck a concrete culvert, flipped over and came to rest on its wheels in the ditch.
EMS transported Schmid to Clara Barton Hospital. A passenger Sarah Lorraine Kyner, 38, Hoisington, was not transported for treatment. Both were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the KHP.
