Billye June (Clark) Yowell was born on July 22, 1935, in Penokee, KS and died on December 27, 2022, at her home in Delphos, KS. Billye was the seventh child of ten to John and Margaret Clark.
She attended school in Hill City, graduating in 1953.
In 1955 Billye married Raymond Miles Yowell Jr. To this union there were four children born, Debra, Charles (Chuck), Clark (Brad) and Rhonda. The family lived on a farm 13 miles north of Ellis and Billye worked at the Ellis Co-Op hardware store. Billye and Raymond were divorced in 1986.
In 1988, Billye married Dr. Donald Wayne Yowell (Doc) from Delphos. She assisted Doc in his dental office up to retirement.
Billye was preceded in death by her parents John and Margaret Clark, mother-in-law Doris Yowell, sister Enid Otis; brothers Douglas Clark (Valta), Charles Clark (Ann), Dwight Clark (Marcene), and Maurice (JoAnn) Clark; brothers-in-law Merle Hilburn and Thomas (Pete) Miller. She also was preceded in death by her son Charles (Chuck) Yowell.
Billye is survived by her husband, Dr. Donald Yowell, of the home; daughter Debra Summers (Donald); grandson Derick (Dayna) Summers with great-grandchildren Braxton, Kinsley, and Adley and son Kyle Summers, all of Hill City; daughter Rhonda Newell (Brian) of Damar; grandchildren Brock Newell (Stormy); great-granddaughter Emory of Great Bend; grandson Jayce Newell of Damar; daughter Kali Newell of Topeka and Kolt Newell (Kate) with great-granddaughter Stella of Overland Park; son Brad of Goodland.
Billye is also survived by sisters Marles Miller of Locus Grove, Virginia, Shirley Hilburn of Hill City, Patty (Verlin) Covalt of Riley; brother John Clark Jr. (Carol) of Hoisington; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She also is survived by stepdaughter Ann Ballinger (Yowell) of Wichita; stepgrandchildren J.J. Pieschl (Angie) of Wichita, Jeff Pieschl (Stacy) of Mulvane, Ryan Pieschl (Meaghan) of Boise Idaho, Marleatta Harris (Brennan) of Goddard, and Nichole Lozada (Yamir) of Belaire; stepdaughter Doni (Fred) Michels of Salina; stepgrandchildren Dawn Mesecher Smith of Salina and Mark Mesecher, Jr. (Cheyenne) of Minneapolis; stepson Glenn (Nancy) Yowell of Iowa City, Iowa; step-grandchildren Hanna Yowell of New York City, NY, and Andrew and Nicholas Yowell; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-stepgrandchildren.
A celebration of Billye’s life will be at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at Wilson Family Funeral Home, 405 Argyle Ave., Minneapolis, KS 67467.
