A pole barn and some of its contents were destroyed by fire Saturday morning northwest of Salina.

Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning that a 45-year-old woman looked out a window and saw smoke coming from her pole barn. The fire was reported just after 9 a.m. Saturday in the 4600 block of W. Shipton Road.

Personnel from Rural Fire District No. 7 responded and extinguished the blaze, Soldan said.

Destroyed by the fire was a 30-foot by 50-foot pole barn, a horse trailer, some tack, and other miscellaneous items, Soldan said. Total loss was estimated at $92,500.

No definitive cause of the fire had been determined. Soldan said the barn had utilities.
