"The vehicle turned into a driveway in the 2000 block of South Halstead Road and drove through some grass," Tonniges said. "The driver and a passenger both exited the vehicle and fled. Some officers gave chase and were able to arrest the driver and passenger in a field after they had jumped some fences."
The driver of the vehicle was identified as Deaven Williamson,25 of Salina. Williamson was arrested for the felony fleeing elude, felony interference with law enforcement, improper or no turn signal, failure to stop at a stop sign driving while suspended and criminal trespass. Williamson also had a Saline County District Court warrant for probation violation which he was also arrested for.
The passenger, identified as Maliya Navarro-Fields, 21, of Wichita was arrested for felony interference with law enforcement and criminal trespass. Tonniges noted that Navarro-Fields had a Saline County District Court warrant and Salina Municipal Court warrant both for failure to appear.
