Mark your calendars! You can have fun and help out others Dec. 4 at the Smoky Hill Museum's Holiday Open House.

The free family fun event is scheduled for 1-4 p.m. Dec. 4 in the museum, 211 W. Iron Avenue. Timed tickets are required, so go to smokyhillmuseum.org to get your tickets now.

What can you do during the open house? How about a photo with Pioneer Santa and then listen as he reads letters from the past. Make and take some simple crafts, and then really get your craft on with additional items to take with you and make later.

Music will be provided by the violin and piano duo of Denise Blem and Judy Weber.

While at the musuem, you can visit with Santa woodcarver Ken Miller, weaver Margaret Presley, and candle maker Jessica Coulter. You might win a carving or a winter scarf! You need not be present to win, according to information from the museum.

And don't forget the bags of tasty goodies!

Additionally, the museum is providing an opportunity to help those less fortunate by collecting winter hats, mittens, gloves, socks, and scarves to be distributed to those in need.

If you can't make it to the museum for the open house or want to avoid the crowd, you can pickup up a take and make craft bag on Dec. 11 while supplies last.
