Carol Jean Urban, 62, Concordia, KS, passed away on July 28, 2024. She was one of eight, born on August 14, 1961, to Raymond and Rosella (Charbonneau) Hubert.
Carol was raised in Concordia and graduated from Concordia High School in 1979.
She married Joseph Urban on February 10, 1979, and their union welcomed four children, Michael, Audra, Jeremy, and Joshua. Carol and her family lived in Oklahoma, Alaska, and Florida while Joe was in the military. They returned to Concordia in 1995. Carol returned to school and earned an Associate of Arts Degree from Cloud County Community College in 2006, while employed in the cafeteria at Cloud County Community College. She would go on to work at Angel Square, and then as the manager at the Downtown Smoke Shop in Concordia.
Carol was an artist that enjoyed all areas of art, from painting or drawing to sculpture, to brick carving and crocheting. She was always crafting something, even when watching tv. Her art can be found all around Concordia, including murals in the CCCC Science Pod, and the Whole Wall Mural in downtown Concordia.
She loved her thirteen grandchildren.
Carol is preceded in death by her father, Raymond Hubert; sisters, Mary and Linda; brother, Michael; and one grandchild, Alyssa.
She will be missed by her husband Joseph Urban of the home; children Michael Urban (Joanna Wilson) of San Antonio, TX, Audra Urban of Concordia, KS, Jeremy Urban (Erin) of Concordia, KS, and Joshua Urban (Leslie) of Concordia, KS; mother, Rosella Hubert of Concordia, KS; sister, Diane Snavely (LeRoy) of Dayton, OH; brothers, Richard Hubert (Debra) of Concordia, KS, Lawrence Hubert (Gena) of Wichita, KS, Christopher Hubert (Kimberleigh) of Concordia, KS; twelve grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will take place at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home on Monday, August 12, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Earl Hale officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with family greeting friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The family invites you to bring any art pieces you may have of Carol’s to display in place of flowers.
