Fisherman finds, retrieves kayak from Smoky Hill River

The Saline County Sheriff's Office is looking for the owner of a kayak that was found drifiting down the Smoky Hill River.

Deputies were called to the 2300 block of East North Street at 4:55 p.m. Sunday after a man fishing near the Smoky Hill River bridge retrieved a personless kayak from the river, Saline County Sheriff Roger Soldan said this morning. Soldan said the man swam out to the kayak and pulled it onto the riverbank.

According to Soldan, deputies checked along the riverbank, but found nothing to provide them with information concerning the owner of the kayak. He said the kayak was a Viper 10.4.
