OTTAWA, Kan. - Only two times in the history of flag football has the Ottawa University Braves lost to another school from the KCAC.

Both times the opponent was the same - The Kansas Wesleyan University Coyotes.

Chihiro Iwata found Jenise Washington for a four-yard touchdown pass with six seconds remaining and then converted the 1-point PAT to Yui Watanabe to propel KWU to a 21-20 win over the Braves on Tuesday at AdventHealth Field.

Tuesday's game was a non-conference match-up between the teams, who will meet again on April 11 in Salina in the conference tilt.

Wesleyan struck first late in the first quarter as Iwata found Aaliyah Young from a yard out with 1:29 left in the first and the PAT was good giving the Coyotes a 7-0 lead.

The Coyotes drove to the Ottawa 5 on their next drive, a mammoth march that took nearly 10 minutes off the clock, but Iwata's fourth down pass was incomplete.

Opening the second half with the ball, the Coyotes moved quickly as Iwata found Wood for an 8-yard score and the PAT put the Coyotes up 14-0 with 6:56 left in the third.

Ottawa got on the board on its next drive and then scored again with 7:47 left in the game to get within two points at 14-12.

After a stalled KWU drive Ottawa would take over and score with 3:32 left to take a 20-14 lead after converting a 2-point PAT.

The Coyotes took over and quickly moved downfield. The big play of the drive was a long pass from Iwata to Jazmine Whitfield. After that the Coyotes worked the sideline and would get the game-tying completion and go-ahead PAT with six seconds left to get the win.

Iwata was 38 of 52 passing for 374 yards and three scores. Wood eight catches for 93 yards and a score. Washington and Young had seven catches each. Wood added two interceptions on defense for the Coyotes. Ava Duerr had six flag pulls.
