Red Fern Booksellers in Downtown Salina has announced a slew of events that will be occurring throughout the month of June.
First Friday Live Music Series continues on Friday, June 6th with Symphony Duo, Denise Blehm and Judy Weber. Attendees will have a great chance to listen to music, while purchasing pots and succulents from those who will be selling outside the bookstore. This event will be from 5:00 pm - 7:00 pm.
The following week on Monday, June 9th from 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm Amy Cole, author from Salina will be releasing her third book, "Only Ever You." Snacks, refreshments and giveaways will occur throughout the book event.
Ending that week on Friday, June 13th, Red Fern will host a book signing for author, Heather Herman on her book "Lady of the Tiger." This event starts at 5:30 pm, with special guest, Don Wagner playing music. The book signing will then start at 6:00 pm.
That following Thursday on June 19th, a book discussion over, "The Lilac People" by Milo Todd will occur at 6:00 pm. The next day on Friday, June 20th from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm, will be a dive into history filled with discussion about the 2010s.
Then the very next day on Saturday, June 21st, Stonewall ambassador, bestselling trans-author and former Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) teacher, Juno Dawson will offer advice on coming out, sex and relationships. This event will be from 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm.
To cap off the month for Red Fern on Saturday, June 28th from 10:00 am - 2:00 pm local baker, Rebekah Brandt along with her daughter will be serving macarons.
Other events/programs include Ollie’s Book Buddies, a program for children in the grades Kindergarten - 8. This program will run until Monday, August 4. Pizza can be redeemed at Blue Skye during the week at lunch time from 11:00 am- 3:00 pm at Blue Skye on 116 N. Santa Fe Ave.
Red Fern will co-host two painting parties with "On the Pot" on 111 N. Santa Fe Ave. The class will take place on Tuesday, June 17th at 10:30 am and cost of each class is $48.00 (+taxes).
Then every Tuesday in June and July (except the painting party dates) at 10:30 am, Red Fern will be hosting their "Children’s Reading and Activity Hour." June 3rd Dear Bookstore will be read, June 10th So Tortoise Dug will be read. Then On June 24, author Kathleen Kastner will make an appearance with a new "Karma Cat Kitten Adventure."
