Local woman arrested after false fire alarm, battery of police officer

On Tuesday afternoon, a Salina woman was arrested after she allegedly pulled a fire alarm without the need to do so, and for threatening and battering officers. 

At approximately 1:40 p.m. Officers were sent to Pioneer President's Place, 200 block of S. 7th Street, in response to a fire alarm that had been allegedly pulled intentionally without the presence of an emergency. 

Salina Police Captain Gary Hanus said when officers apprehended the suspect, Ericka Vickery, 32, Salina, told officers she was in medical distress. Vickery was subsequently transported to Salina Regional Health Center, 400 S Santa Fe Ave, for evaluation. 

Hanus said after Vickery was transported to the hospital, she allegedly threatened and battered an officer and member of the hospital security team. Vickery's actions lead to her being placed in a body wrap. 

Requested Charges: 

● Criminal Threat, two counts 

● Battery of a law enforcement officer 

● Felony obstruction 

● unlawful request for emergency services 

● Battery 

● Damage to property 

● Disorderly conduct
