A driver was taken to the hospital after a one-vehicle wreck Wednesday night in central Salina.

Amanda Perez, 31, of Salina, was westbound on Manor Road and attempting to turn left onto Lewis Avenue when the 2012 Mazda 5 she was driving went up over the curb and struck an Evergy pole, breaking it off near the base, Salina Police Captain Paul Forrester said this morning. Perez was unconscious and transported to Salina Regional Health Center, he said.

The wreck occurred at approximately 10:20 p.m. Wednesday.

The vehicle had major front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Forrester said Perez was cited for the following.

●Improper driving on laned roadways

●No proof of insurance

●Having an illegal tag
