Neil Thad Satterlee, age 83, of Ottawa, KS, passed away on November 13, 2023, at his home.

Neil was born May 10, 1940, in Salina, KS, the son of Thaddeus Satterlee and Mildred (Mihm) Satterlee. Neil graduated from Assaria High School, Assaria, KS with the class of 1958. During high school, he played basketball and baseball. He then went on to Kansas State University, Manhattan, KS, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Economics in 1965. Neil moved to Ottawa, KS in 1966, where he has lived ever since. 

Neil worked for the Federal Land Bank as an assistant manager and worked his way to Vice President until 1980. He worked for FDIC, was an agent for Shelter Insurance, and, in later years, worked at Baker University and the City of Ottawa before retiring in 2005.

Neil was happiest in the outdoors. He enjoyed caring for his yard and gardening over the years. He mowed yards to keep busy during retirement. He enjoyed being out hunting and fishing and was just happy to enjoy God’s creation.  In his youth, Neil was active in 4-H and enjoyed showing hogs at Saline County fairs. He showed his horse in the American Royal. He was also an avid K-State fan and cheered the Wildcats on to victory for many years. Neil was a kind man and always happy to strike up a conversation with someone. 

Neil was a charter member and elder of Grace Community Fellowship. 

On August 6, 1967, Neil was united in marriage to Rita Hollinger at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ottawa, KS. This past August they celebrated their fifty-sixth year of loving marriage.

Neil is survived by his wife, Rita Satterlee of the home; daughter, Janet Seelhoff and her husband, Mike, Omaha, NE; son, Brent Satterlee, Overland Park, KS; grandson, Benjamin Seelhoff, Omaha, NE; three sisters, Mary Poage and her husband, Bruce, Topeka, KS; Thadene Conard and her husband, Elvin, Halstead, KS; and Jane Apter, Topeka, KS; several nephews, great nieces and great nephews, a great-great nephew and many cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Thaddeus and Mildred Satterlee and a nephew, Michael Conard. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, at Grace Community Fellowship, Ottawa, KS.  The family will greet friends for a visitation from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 16, 2023, at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, Ottawa, KS.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Community Fellowship sent in care of Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, P.O.
