The new splash pad at Jerry Ivey Memorial Park, is temporarily close after its opening weekend, due to cleaning and maintenance.
According to Salina Parks and Recreation, excessive dirt and mud tracked onto the splash pad quickly upon opening, which clogged the filtration system, impact water quality and can force additional closures.
The Parks are asking people to help keep the splash pad open and enjoyable:
• Using sidewalks and designated access points
• Avoiding dirt and landscape areas
• Supervising children and encouraging them to stay on paved surfaces
It is expected the splash pad will reopen sometime on Monday.
