Knife attack victim hospitalized in Salina, suspect in custody

CLOUD COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect for a violent knife attack in north central Kansas.

Just before 9:30p.m. Monday, police were dispatched to the 200 Block of West 11th Street in Concordia after a report of a victim with a stab wound, according to a media release from Concordia Police Chief Brent Gering.

First responders located a victim with a life-threatening stab wound and multiple defensive wounds. The Concordia Fire Department rendered aid to the victim and transported the victim to North Central Kansas Medical Center. The victim was later transferred to Salina Regional Health Center.

Officers located the suspect, later identified as 39-year-old Martin Santos Ambros. Officers placed him in handcuffs. He then attempted to escape custody and was unsuccessful.  The scene was secured and evidence collected. Santos-Ambros is being held in the Cloud County Jail on requested charges of attempted-murder in the 2nd degree-domestic and Felony interference with law enforcement.
