Thespian Troupe 639 at Salina Central High School came away with a number of awards and honors from the recent 2022 Kansas Thespian Festival in Wichita.
The troupe was named a Gold Honor Troupe, according to information provided by Barb Hilt, Central theatre director. A video submission made by Joshua Warner depicted community service, productions, fundraising efforts, and public outreach during 2021.
Troupe member Harper Johnston was selected as a state thespian officer for 2023.

The troupe placed first in the Chapter Select One Act category with Tracks by Peter Tarsi. The performance was directed by Lillian Myers and Joshua Warner. Cast members included the following.

Additionally, the troupe also was selected to perform Tracks at the International Thespian Festival at the University of Indiana Bloomington June 20-24, 2022, Hilt noted.
Also during the festival, the team of Harper Johnston, Ben Kraft, Jack Angell, and Josh Warner placed second in the Theatre Quiz Bowl.
According to Hilt, the team of Chloe Highsmith, Charles Goldbach, Emma Kelly, Tyler Campbell, and Ethan Henry made it to the Competitive Improv finals.
The troupe also was awarded third place for its lobby display.
Several members of the troupe also received superior ratings in the following individual events.
Solo Musical: Emma Kelly
Group Acting: Ethan Henry, Tyler Campbell, and Chloe Highsmith. (Also selected as one of 10 individual events to perform at the showcase at festival.)
