LAWRENCE, Kan. – Kansas football is set to open Big 12 Conference play versus West Virginia on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 5 p.m. on FS1, the league announced Monday.
The matchup between Kansas and West Virginia will be the first Big 12 Conference game this season for both teams and will be the first Big 12 matchup inside the new David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium.
It will be the 14th matchup between Kansas and West Virginia in program history, including the sixth game played in Lawrence. Kansas has opened Big 12 Conference play versus West Virginia four times, with this year being the third Big 12 Conference opener against the Mountaineers in the last four seasons.
The game will be Kansas’ first on FS1 this season and Kansas’ third kickoff at 5p.m. or later. The Jayhawks are 2-0 in both evening kickoffs this season.
Kansas has a 2-0 start in home games this season with a 31-7 win over Fresno State on Aug. 23 and a 46-7 victory over Wagner on Aug. 29. The matchup against West Virginia will be the third of seven home games for the Jayhawks in 2025, with matchups versus Cincinnati (Sept. 27), Kansas State (Oct. 25), Oklahoma State (Nov. 1) and Utah (Nov. 28) on the schedule.
