A Salina man was arrested Tuesday morning after a domestic disturbance led to gunfire and a police search, according to Salina Police Capt. James Feldman.

Officers were called to a home in the 800 block of S. Santa Fe at around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a physical domestic incident. A 47-year-old woman and a 15-year-old male told officers that an argument turned violent when 51-year-old Darrin Soper allegedly grabbed the teenager and restricted his breathing.

"The female began to pull Soper off when he pushed the female to the ground and got on top of her," Feldman said.  "The 15-year-old then attempted to pull Soper off the female."

Soper then went to another room, retrieved a gun, and fired a shot, though Feldman said, according to the eyewitnesses, it was not aimed at anyone. By the time officers arrived, Soper had fled the scene.

The Saline County Sheriff's Office located Soper at a home in the 3500 block of Pleasant Hill Road around 1:30 a.m., where he was taken into custody without further incident.

Soper was booked into the Saline County Jail on charges of domestic battery, child abuse, criminal restraint, and criminal discharge of a firearm.
