KANSAS CITY, Mo.—The Kansas City Royals announced today that they have agreed to terms with 22 international free agents.
“We are excited to welcome such a diverse and talented group of players into our organization,” said Royals Sr. Vice President, Major League & International Operations/Assistant General Manager, Rene Francisco. “Daniel Guerrero (Royals Director, International Scouting) and his team did an outstanding job of identifying these players and signing them to their first professional contracts. We look forward to watching them all grow together as both men and baseball players as they pursue their dreams of becoming Major Leaguers.”
The group features nine right-handed pitchers, six infielders, four catchers and three outfielders. Among the group are 17-year-olds Warren Calcaño, a switch-hitting Dominican infielder and Baseball America’s No. 7 ranked international prospect, and Venezuelan catcher Moises Marchán, who MLB Pipeline ranked as their No. 31 international prospect in the class.
Video of Calcaño can be found here. Marchán is a cousin of catcher Rafael Marchán, who made his big league debut for Philadelphia in 2020 and appeared in 17 games for the Phillies in 2024.
