The Southeast of Saline boys basketball team fell to 1-2 today in the closing seconds of their meeting with Sacred Heart.

Alex Disburger, who finished as the Knights leading scorer with 16 points, got the stickback on his own miss to seal the deal 51-49.

“We haven’t been in that situation yet this year and we just need to get some more experience,” Trojan head coach Bryson Flax said. “I should have called a timeout and calmed them down, that’s on me.”

SES was led tonight by 17 points from Jaxson Gebhardt and 11 from Nakari Morrical-Palmer.

Ultimately, shooting struggles were at the core of the Trojans problems today.

“We got shots but we couldn’t hit them, were at the rim consistently but couldn’t finish,” Flax said. “I thought we got bullied a little there at the end. We stayed in it despite missing a lot of shots but at the end of the day we’ve gotta be better.”

Behind Disberger, the Knights got 14 points from Mason Richards.

The Trojans will be back in action on Tuesday when they face the Abilene Cowboys, a team that is sure to challenge SES with their size.

“Abilene is huge at every position,” Flax said. “They shot really well in the game’s that I’ve watched, we’re going to have to be good defensively and we all have to crash.”
