The Southeast of Saline softball team began their season with a bang, sweeping the Smoky Valley Vikings with wins of 4-1 and 6-0.
The Lady Trojans never trailed in either game thanks to dominant pitching from Brenna Baird and Lexi Jacobson, who combined to toss 14 innings of six-hit one-run ball, striking out 15 while walking just three
SES wasted no time getting up on the Vikings in game one, scoring three runs in the first inning and never looking back.
Offensively the Lady Trojans spread the love with six different hitters scoring or driving in a run to compliment multi-hit games from Brielle Ptacek and Jayci Burgardt.
Brenna Baird pitched a gem, allowing only four hits while striking out eight and walking just two.
Game two saw more of the same as Lexi Jacobson blanked the Smoky Valley bats while the Lady Trojan lineup tacked on one in the second, two in the third, and three in the sixth to take a comfortable 6-0 victory.
The SES lineup remained as even-keeled as ever in game two with five different players driving in a run, highlighted by a three-hit game from Brenna Baird.
The Lady Trojans will be back in action next Tuesday as the team hits the road for a doubleheader with Republic County.
