Driver hospitalized in Salina after violent I-70 crash

SALINE COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 4p.m. Tuesday in Saline County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Honda Ridgeline driven by Robert Laham, 60, Boulder, Colorado, was eastbound on Interstate 70 eight miles west of Salina.

The vehicle entered the center median, crossed the westbound lanes of Interstate 70, traveled down the embankment on the north side of the highway,  vaulted over a guard rail, continued eastbound and struck a 2004 Western Star semi driven by Kirk G. Maas, 55, Dwight, Kansas, at the bottom of the Hedville Road off ramp.

EMS transported Laham to Salina Regional Health Center. Maas was not injured. The KHP did not have complete seat belt usage information.
