A winter storm warning and winter weather advisories have been issued for counties in our area.

Winter storm warning
The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a winter storm warning in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Thursday that includes the following counties in our area.
Marion County
McPherson County
Mixed precipitation changing to snow is forecast. Total snow accumulations of 3 to 8 inches and ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch. Winds gusting as high as 40 mph. Locally higher snow amounts are possible just west of the turnpike corridor.
Where snow occurs, snowfall rates of one to two inches per hour will be possible Thursday morning. The timing of the heaviest precipitation rates is expected from 4 am to noon Thursday.
Plan on hazardous road conditions. Blowing and drifting snow could significantly reduce visibility, especially on Thursday. The hazardous wintry conditions will have the greatest impact on the Thursday morning commute. The combination of gusty winds and the weight of snow and ice could bring down tree branches and lead to scattered power outages.
Winter weather advisories

Snow is forecast for central Kansas and mixed precipitation to snow is expected in southeast Kansas. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches. Ice accumulations of around two tenths of an inch are expected in southeast Kansas. Winds are forecast to gust as high as 40 mph.
Plan on slippery road conditions. Patchy blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
The National Weather Service in Topeka has issued a winter weather advisory in effect from midnight to 6 p.m. Thursday that includes the following counties in our area.
Clay County
Dickinson County
Ottawa County
Sleet and freezing drizzle will begin after midnight but will quickly change to light snow. Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches are possible. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph may cause some blowing snow.
Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning commute. Slow down and use caution while traveling.
