UPDATE 4 p.m. Thursday: Scattered showers and thunderstorms will impact mainly central Kansas this evening and tonight. Winds gusts up to 55 mph may accompany the strongest activity, along with locally heavy downpours.

Chances for showers and storms will increase across central and eastern Kansas today and tonight. A few strong storms will be possible this evening across central Kansas. 

High temperatures today will not be quite as hot with highs in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees.
