Orville Duane "Bub" Macklin, 67, of Smith Center, passed away on October 3rd, 2025 at Smith Center Health and Rehab, where he had resided for the last 4 years. He was born on February 1st, 1958 in Smith Center, Kansas to Orville Dean and Betty Fay Willis Macklin.

Bub graduated from Smith Center High School in 1976, where he met his soul mate Sheryl Schultz. They married in Smith Center on October 11th,1980. They had 2 children, Brett Duane and Stacey Renee and one grandson, Bradyn Dean. He had long fulfilling career as a professional truck driver for 40 years before retiring in 2018. With a lifelong love of automotives, Bub found great joy in repairing cars and fixing things. He also loved to spend his free time smoking everything from meats to pies with his home smoker. He had a fiery sense of humor and found comedy in every situation even while his body was suffering from the symptoms of benign non essential tremors. He will be remembered for his vivid personality and bustling laugh.

Bub was preceded in death by his parents, Betty in 1973, Dean in 1996 and his sister, Patricia in 2003. Bub is survived by his loving wife, Sheryl Schultz Macklin of Smith Center, Brett (wife Terra & grandson Bradyn) Macklin of Omaha and Stacey Sears of Wichita, KS. Siblings: Jean (husband Jim) Tharp of Smith Center, Ks; Sandy (husband Eldon) Pruess of Stuttgart, Ks; Dean and Wife, Susan Macklin of North Carolina; Frank Macklin of Colorado Springs, Co; Danny (wife Loretta) Standley of Wichita, Ks; Susie (husband Darrell) Piner of Louisville, Co; Several nieces and nephews and many friends.
